6 January 2023, Kazakhstan. Nearly 16 tons of opiates were seized by officers of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, followed by arrests of the organized crime group members in several cities across the country. The trafficked opiates arrived from abroad and were disguised as food products. Additional details of the operation will be made available as the investigation progresses.
Sharing of timely and accurate seizure data is an example of efforts made in strengthening the exchange of information at strategic, operational, and tactical levels, in line with the priority recommendations adopted by the Paris Pact partnership under the Pillar I of the Vienna Declaration.
