Date: 25 October 2022

Paris Pact Expert Working Group (EWG) meeting on Precursors was held in a hybrid format in Bucharest, Romania on 24-25 October 2022.

The event was attended by 100 participants, representing 31 countries and six international and regional organisations. This Expert Working Group meeting was hosted by the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) and directly related to the Pillar III (Prevention of diversion of Precursor Chemicals) of the Vienna Declaration, adopted at the Third Ministerial Conference of the Paris Pact Partners in 2012, which serves as the roadmap for the Paris Pact Initiative.

The participants reviewed existing gaps, difficulties, and challenges as well as prospective operational actions in the areas related to the topic of the discussions. Delegates took stock of the recommendations adopted at the last EWG meeting on precursors and agreed on 11 specific priority recommendations emanating from the discussions, to be reviewed for endorsement at the 16th Policy Consultative Group Meeting (PCGM) planned for 5-6 December 2022, in Vienna.
