The Paris Pact’s annual report to the upcoming 66th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) has officially been published in six UN languages. The report, entitled “Strengthening international cooperation in combating illicit opiates originating in Afghanistan through continuous and reinforced support to the Paris Pact Initiative” (E/CN.7/2023/9), has been prepared pursuant to the CND resolution 56/3 and is part of the official CND pre-session documentation.

The report describes the steps taken by UNODC to implement the Paris Pact Initiative in the year 2022 to support the international community in strengthening regional and international cooperation, fostering political momentum and informing the development of operational responses to the intersecting challenges in the fight against trafficking of opiates originating in Afghanistan.
